Requirements for D.Th Admission
- Candidates shall be admitted by the research centres to the degree programme in the branch they have completed their M.Th study;
- Candidate must have a minimum of 2 (two) years of ministerial experience after passing M.Th. regardless of sex before admitting to the D.Th.
- Candidates should have passed the Common Entrance Test (CET) administered by the Senate;
- Candidate should have completed the Methodology Seminar Course conducted by the Department of Research/SATHRI;
- Doctoral Research centres shall conduct personal interviews and orientations for the prospective students who have successfully passed the CET.
Common Entrance Test (CET)
- The Senate shall conduct entrance test for admission to D.Th programme once in a year.
- There will be written examination consisting of two papers, each of three hours duration and 100 weightage/marks;
First paper shall deal with the area of specialization at M.th. level.
- PART I shall have questions related to methodological skills involved in the study of the branch of specialization at M.Th. level;
- PART II shall test the grasp of the branch in comprehensive through questions.
Second Paper shall have two parts:

- Part I shall be a book review on recently published book;
- Part II shall deal with the expected field of research, proposed topic, need for research in that area, nature and method of research, and theological implication of the intended research.
- Candidate is required to obtain 60 percent marks in each paper to pass CET.
- There shall only be three attempts.
- Passing of CET does not guarantee admission to the D.Th programme in the Senate. Admissions are subjected to the availability of seats and resource persons in the field of his/her choice and based on personal interviews.
- Validity of CET for D.Th admission is three years.
- CET shall be conducted only in Senate recognized examination centres, that is, in all the approved doctoral centres only.
Th Methodology Seminar/Orientation Course
- Department for Research/SATHRI shall conduct the D.Th Methodology Seminar once a year.
- Candidates who have passed CET and are seeking admission in the current year will be allowed to attend.
- Candidates who are waiting to write CET may also apply to enrol in the Methodology seminar. The Department for Research/SATHRI would decide upon the matter depending on the availability of seats.
